International Jazzfestival Münster shortcuts 2024

Münster welcomes the new year 2024 with the "small" edition of the International Jazz Festival: on Saturday, January 6, 2024, there will be three premieres in the main auditorium of Theater Münster from 6 pm!

Advance ticket sales start on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 12 noon exclusively online.

It all starts at Saturday with a young trio from Italy. Violinist Anaïs Drago is one of the greatest talents of the new generation of Italian jazz musicians. "Terre Ballerine" is the name of her new, excitingly orchestrated trio, which she is presenting in Germany for the first time.

The new quartet formed for Münster with French tuba player Michel Godard and swiss drummer Lucas Niggli is also very promising. They will be joined by the Austrian hurdy-gurdy player Matthias Loibner and the greek kanun player Sofia Labropoulou. A world premiere!

Third in the line-up is the British pianist Zoe Rahman with her new octet "Color of Sound" in a German premiere. Her album of original compositions has been named one of the best of the year by Jazzwise magazine, among others.

Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR Cologne) will be broadcasting live on WDR 3 from 20:04 that evening.

Saturday ends with a night session. Only a few jazz-free hours remain, because on Sunday, January 7, 2024, there will be another echo: Michel Godard will be performing in the Dominikanerkirche from 12 noon for half an hour with free admission.
